Application for GEF ECW in Fiji, 24–27 February 2026.

The Global Environment Facility (GEF) is organizing an Extended Constituency Workshop (ECW) for the Pacific Islands in Fiji, 24–27 February 2026. The ECW aims to strengthen understanding of GEF strategies, policies, and procedures, with a focus on country programming and implementation. The GEF CSO Network invites its members and GEF project recipients to submit this application to participate in this fully funded workshop.

Funding

Selected delegates who require financial support, will be fully funded, including:

  • International airfare
  • Accommodation

Eligible Countries

Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a national, long term resident, or an employee of an organization in the eligible countries, and
  • Either
    • be a member of the GEF CSO Network; or
    • Have implemented or participated in a GEF-funded project (including GEF Small Grants Programme, Inclusive Conservation Initiative, SCCF, LDCF, or GBFF projects).

If the organization is not yet a CSO Network member, membership application is required as part of the nomination.

Selection Considerations

In line with GEF and GEF CSO network guidance, nominations will consider:

  • Familiarity with GEF processes and programming
  • Prior engagement with GEF projects or intergovernmental processes
  • Gender balance
  • Intergenerational representation
  • Representation of Indigenous Peoples and local communities

While we aim to support one CSO Network delegate per country, final selection will depend on the overall number and quality of nominations received across stakeholder groups.

FAQs

Who can apply?

Civil society actors from eligible Asia–Pacific countries who are members of the GEF CSO Network, or who have implemented or participated in a GEF-funded project. This includes involvement in GEF Small Grants Programme, SCCF, LDCF, or GBFF projects. Applicants should be actively engaged in environmental, climate, or biodiversity-related work and able to contribute meaningfully to the workshop.

Is there an age limit?
Yes. Applicants must be 18 years or older at the time of application. There is no upper age limit. Intergenerational representation is encouraged.

Do applicants need prior experience with the GEF?
Preferably yes. Priority will be given to applicants familiar with GEF processes, projects, or country programming, to ensure productive and informed discussions during the ECW.

Do I need a passport or travel document?
Yes. Due to limited time, applications from individuals who do not hold a valid passport or other official travel document that allows travel to Fiji will not be accepted. Applicants must be able to travel internationally within the required timeframe.

Is there a cost to apply or to join the CSO Network?
No. There is no cost to apply for this opportunity. There is also no fee to become a member of the GEF CSO Network.

Is the workshop fully funded?
Yes. Selected CSO delegates will be fully funded, including international airfare, accommodation, and a daily subsistence allowance.

How many participants will be selected per country?
The GEF CSO Network aims to select and submit at least one nominee per eligible country. Final numbers depend on the total nominations received across all non-state stakeholder groups.

When will selected applicants be informed?

Selected participants are expected to be informed by mid-January 2026.
